Pack both cool and hot weather clothes. While temperatures are warm during the day, in the evening they can dip into the 50s even during the summer. Warm clothes will make those cool evenings by the fire much more pleasant. Don’t forget your swim suit and swim gear!
Bring shoes appropriate for all the activities you’re planning. Sneakers, flip flops and hiking boots will be useful. Don’t forget bug spray and sunblock.
The cabin is provided with linens for beds and bath towels and hand soap. We provide shampoo, conditioner and bath soap in Cabin 2, but not other smaller cabins. We do not provide clean towels during the week. Beach towels are available upon request.
The cabin kitchens are fully outfitted with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, dish soap and hand soap, sponge, dishcloths and towels. We also provide coffee filters, salt/pepper, oil, plastic bags and plastic containers for storing your food. We provide one roll of paper towels and napkins to start your stay.
There are two large grocery stores, including Walmart, in Park Rapids and smaller stores in both Nevis and Dorset. If you are coming from the West, you will most likely go through Park Rapids. If you are coming from the East, you can go through Nevis on your way to the resort. Don’t let Google Maps have you bypass Nevis, which has two gas stations, a nice size grocery store for a small town, a bar/liquor store, many restaurants. Drive through Nevis to check out what is there. The resort is just 7 miles from Nevis.
We now offer a grocery delivery service. You can place your order online and we would pick it up on your arrival day and put the cold items in the refrigerator. We can also shop for you if you prefer that option. Ask us for more information about this service.
All cabins have charcoal grills and we provide the charcoal and a charcoal chimney to start the charcoal. If you prefer lighter fluid, please bring your own. We also provide matches and a lighter.
Also available upon request are a pack n play and a child high chair that has a tray and attaches to a chair. Please request these in advance. Cabin 2 does have two child gates and a pack n play and high chair so no need to request those. One gate is permanently fixed at the top of the upper loft and one can be moved.
Don’t forget to bring your fishing gear. You can pick up a fishing license in Nevis, Dorset or Park Rapids. Nevis is 7 miles from the resort, Dorset is 10 miles and Park Rapids is 16. If driving from the resort, you will drive through Dorset to get to Park Rapids. All cabins have a TV with a blu ray or DVD player. We have a large library of DVDs available for you to use while here. We have TV stations through Hulu in the cabins. We also have several games available for your use.
Cabins do have WiFi.
We have a canoe, kayaks, paddle boards and a paddle boat that are free for guests to use. We also have pontoon boats and small fishing boats available to rent. We have a kids playground set. For beach and water play, we have sand toys and various “floaties” available and a water trampoline. We have life jackets of all sizes available for guests.
If you plan on flying in, Minneapolis (MSP) is about a 3 1/2 hour drive and Fargo (FAR) is a 2 hour drive to West Crooked Lake Resort.
