This place is a hidden gem. We had the very best time! Campground/resort area is quiet, clean and very family friendly. Having a playground right outside the camper was the best thing ever. All the floats, paddle boards, kayaks and paddle boats available for use were well maintained and clean. The kids and us had the time of our lives. One of the best Airbnb experiences we’ve ever had. Susan was so kind, easy to communicate with, and always around on the campgrounds. They provided EVERYTHING you need. They even had a lot of water toys. The RV is brand new. It was so clean and comfortable. We had my two year old son and It was perfect for him. There’s even a little play set outside with swings and a slide. I could go on and on. We’ve stayed at countless airbnbs but the hospitality and things provided made this a 10/10 experience. West Crooked Lake Resort and Susan will FOREVER hold a special place in my family’s hearts! We fell in love with this place from the moment we stayed in a camper this summer… so much so we kept coming back all summer and fall and then decided to brave the winter and stay until May!! Susan and her team are the nicest, warm hearted souls you can come across and truly makes you feel like family. I cannot thank her enough for the level of peace she brought to our family this year. I am a city girl who never saw myself living in the middle of the woods in a small town but somehow magically West Crooked Lake Resort feels like home and it always will. We spent a lot of birthdays and holidays here this year and they were all incredibly special. Susan even left Christmas books for my kiddos and a tree to decorate. This was our 2nd year in cabin 5 and our 4th year at West Crooked! We love this place! The beach is perfect for our kids and we love the small and close feel of the place. I could not recommend this place more. The cabin itself was sparkling clean and far more modern than I had anticipated. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves from toddlers and preschoolers up to Grandma. Cabin #1 was perfect for my own personal get away from the stress of work and life. I felt so at home and the cabin had everything you’d need and more! The description of the cabin is spot on and such a lovely view of the lake. I arrived around 11:30pm on a Friday night and what a surprise to sit up in bed and have a clear view of west crooked lake. The managers were amazing also! Never had to ask for anything as they were already on top of it! You won’t be disappointed if you choose any of the cabins here! We had great time at the lake! The cabin was great! The kitchen was great for our little family, the deck had enough room to relax, grill & have an amazing view. There was a play ground for our son, a box of toys for him to use on the beach, docks for us to fish off of & paddle boats/boards, kayaks & canoes for us to make use of (which we did!) It was just the right drive to put us outside of town, in a quiet, little relaxing cove. If you need a place to rest, relax & take a break – this is the place. Gina, August 2018
The cabin was great. We especially liked the kitchen and the barbecue. There were a lot more utensils and appliances than we expected which was nice. There were canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards available to use free of charge which are a lot of fun. The location is excellent as it is close to some great bike/hiking trails. I would stay here again. My family had a great time at the cabin. The cabin had air conditioning and wifi which was really nice and unexpected. The fishing was good on the lake and the resort provided paddle boards, a canoe, kayaks, a water trampoline and games and movies! Our family has been staying at West Crooked Lake Resort since 2011 for our summer family vacation. We love the personalized, family-oriented atmosphere that Susan and her family provide from the beautiful landscaping and clean, well-appointed cabins (our family has stayed in cabins #3 and #5 in the past and now stay in #2) to the fun activities for every age group. During our stays, we have had children of all ages from babies up to teenagers as well as multi-generational adults, and cabin #2 has always accommodated our needs whether by including thoughtful amenities such as baby gates, a cot in the closet with extra sheets and pillows, or a washer and dryer or by providing enough space in the three-level cabin that one can find a quiet corner to read or relax in amid a large family group. There’s also the wonderful wrap-around deck and lower patio for enjoying as well. On the lake and outdoors, the older kids and adults love the paddleboat, the “Bongo” (water trampoline), kayaking and canoeing while the little ones enjoy paddling in the clear water near the shore, building endless sandcastles (with all the fun building tools provided), and playing on the playground. All of these activities are within view of each of the cabins. We really only leave the resort mid-week to head to Nevis or Park Rapids for additional provisions; otherwise, we are content to just enjoy the beautiful lake and our time together. We always look forward to hearing the first loon call and seeing the first bald eagle fly overhead. We’re so happy that we found West Crooked Lake Resort. It’s become a family tradition where we have made so many memories and look forward to making many more in the years to come. Sasha, July 2017
If you are looking for a great place to get away and relax, Susan’s cabin will be a perfect place to go. The location is secluded and far enough from the city. The cabin itself is well maintained and up to date. The host, Susan, was nice and flexible. She was present throughout our whole stay and helped us when asked. I have been coming back to West Crooked Lake Resort for at least 8 years. I’ve kind of lost count. Secluded in the forest, this resort is small and so lovely. The water is clean and clear. The grounds are beautiful.
